EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro for truck drivers (2026)

Our power-station guide's top pick, examined for sleeper-cab life: 768Wh of LiFePO4 storage, 800W of AC output, a 70-minute wall recharge. What it runs, how you charge it on the road, and where it fits in your sleeper — specs first, hype never.

How this guide was made

Research-based. We did not test these hands-on. The score is inherited from our parent guide.

The RIVER 2 Pro carries its 17/20 score from our parent portable power station guide — inherited, not re-scored here. Scores are our own, out of 20, from published specs and Amazon.ca buyer reviews (September 2026). We didn't test these hands-on.

Top pick · 17/20 (inherited from the parent guide)

EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro

768Wh of LiFePO4 storage with 800W of continuous AC output (1,600W X-Boost) — enough to run a 12V cooler through a full rest period, which is the job that decides this category. At nearly 8 kg it needs a dedicated, secured spot in the sleeper, not the top bunk. About 4.6 stars from 229 Amazon buyer reviews backs the specs.

Runtime math

How long it actually runs in a sleeper

Here's the math that decides this purchase. A typical 12V compressor cooler draws about 45W on average. 768Wh ÷ 45W ≈ 17 hours in theory; after inverter and conversion losses it lands around 15 hours — enough to cover a 10-hour rest period with margin. That's why the parent guide made it the top pick: it wins on the one job that matters here — running a cooler overnight.

What the 800W ceiling means in practice: it handles real cab loads — cooler, laptop through the 100W USB-C, phone chargers, LED lighting, a fan — with headroom. It is not a substitute for shore power; check the wattage plate on anything big before you plug it in.

Charging

Charging it on the road: three routes

Fastest: a wall outlet. AC input tops out at 940W and takes the Pro from 0 to 100% in about 70 minutes — one long fuel stop or a night plugged in at a yard. That's the recharge you plan around.

From the truck: the 12V route is slow. The car input is capped at 100W (12V/24V, 8A). At that rate, filling 768Wh takes the better part of a driving shift — fine as a trickle while you roll, but don't count on a full charge off the truck alone in one sitting.

Solar: the quiet top-up. Up to 220W of solar input works while you're parked — it won't touch the wall charger's speed, but it stretches the charge across a rest day.

Cab fit

Weight, footprint, and where it lives in the cab

At 7.8 kg and roughly the size of a small toolbox (270 × 260 × 226 mm), the Pro is a one-handed carry — but the parent guide's caution stands: anything loose in a cab becomes a projectile in a hard brake. Give it a dedicated, secured spot in the sleeper, wedged where it can't travel.

And keep it in the cab, not the truck bed. A driver thread on diysolarforum describes an EcoFlow unit in a hot truck bed under a canopy hitting its charge temperature limit and refusing to charge (while still discharging). The Pro's own spec is 0°C to 45°C for charging and −10°C to 45°C for discharging — the cab's temperature range, not the bed's.

For Canadian winter: discharging at −10°C is fine, but the unit won't charge below 0°C. If you've parked in a deep freeze, let it warm up in the cab before topping it off.

Long-haul case

The long-haul case: 3,000 cycles and a 5-year warranty

The LiFePO4 chemistry is the quiet reason this is a truck buy. 80%+ capacity after 3,000 full cycles means nightly drain-and-recharge routines don't eat the battery the way older chemistries would — three thousand cycles is years of rest periods, not months. EcoFlow backs the RIVER 2 series with a 5-year warranty, and the unit is stocked by a Canadian dealer, so it's an NA-spec (100–120V) unit with local availability.

Driver report

One driver's report: a 768Wh EcoFlow and a fridge overnight

On the ih8mud forum, one user reported running a Dometic fridge overnight off a 768Wh EcoFlow unit (described as an "EcoFlow River Pro 2"), and claimed the station cleared 48+ hours for the fridge on their setup. That's a single user's report — useful colour, not a promise. Your cooler, your ambient temperature, and how often the lid opens will set your number; the 45W math above is the conservative way to plan.

RIVER 2 Pro truck questions, answered

Will the RIVER 2 Pro run my 12V cooler all night?

Yes, by the math. 768Wh against a ~45W average compressor cooler gives roughly 15 hours after conversion losses — that covers a 10-hour rest period with margin. Use the 12.6V DC output (126W max) rather than the AC outlet for the cooler; it's the more efficient path.

How fast can I recharge it while driving?

Slowly. The truck's 12V input is capped at 100W, so a full charge off the cab outlet takes the better part of a driving shift. If you need speed, a wall outlet fills it in about 70 minutes — that's the recharge to plan your stops around.

Can it handle a Canadian winter in the cab?

It discharges down to −10°C, so it runs fine in a cold cab. But it won't charge below 0°C — if the unit has been sitting in a deep freeze, warm it in the cab first. And don't leave it in a hot truck bed in summer: an EcoFlow unit in a hot bed has been reported refusing to charge after hitting its temperature limit.

How heavy is it to lug in and out of the truck?

7.8 kg (17.2 lb) — a manageable one-handed carry for a daily routine. Just give it a fixed, secured home in the sleeper so it isn't loose cargo under braking.

What warranty does it carry?

Five years on the RIVER 2 series, per EcoFlow. Combined with the 3,000-cycle LiFePO4 rating, that's the long-haul case: nightly cooler duty without the battery giving up early.
