The daily corridor score · Oct → Apr

The Parked Index

One number per corridor, every morning: how bad is the drive, scored 0 to 100 from the same Environment Canada alerts and provincial 511 reports behind While You Were Parked. Zero is a clear road. One hundred is a closed one. Every score publishes the inputs that built it — audit the number before quoting it.

Scored Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from the morning's public alerts and road reports. Full overnight report: While You Were Parked — Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Machine-readable: this board as JSON. This board was backfilled on Oct 21, 2026 from the facts recorded in that morning's edition — the data file flags it as a backfill.

How the number is built

Points add up from public inputs only — nothing proprietary, nothing guessed:

  • Road closed on the corridor: the score is 100. Full stop.
  • Partial closure or major restriction on 511: +40
  • Environment Canada alert in force (highest one only, never stacked): red +40 · orange +25 · yellow +10
  • Chains required: +15
  • Freezing rain, or 10 cm or more of snow: +20 · 5 cm or more: +10
  • Wind chill at or below −20: +15 · at or below −10: +8
  • Temperature at or below −25 °C: +10

The bands: 0–20 CLEAR · 21–40 CAUTION · 41–60 ROUGH · 61–80 DANGEROUS · 81–100 PARKED. A quiet night scores low and says so — an honest single digit is data. Each corridor also carries a confidence flag: HIGH when both the 511 service and Environment Canada are reporting, LIMITED on single-source mornings (including mornings when Environment Canada facts arrive via the outlets citing them), and LIMITED always renders with the score.

Advisory only. The Parked Index summarizes public alerts; it never replaces them. Always check 511 and Environment Canada before rolling. If a score is wrong, the correction runs in the next edition with a note — scores are never silently edited.
