Alberta + BC + Ontario — week ahead (Environment Canada forecasts)
Week ahead: mild stretch holds, wind is the story — forecast corrections carried
The mild stretch holds — and the wind is the story this weekend. Environment Canada calls for mainly sunny conditions Saturday — Edmonton 11, Calgary 13 — then a mix of sun and cloud Sunday, Edmonton 14 and Calgary 14. Four corrections from yesterday's forecast: Edmonton runs two degrees cooler today than forecast (11 against 13), and the 90 km/h gusts move to early this morning instead of overnight tonight; Calgary's overnight 90 km/h gusts are gone from today's forecast — south 20 gusting to 40 near midnight instead; Jasper runs two degrees cooler today (9 against 11) but dries as forecast; Merritt runs a degree warmer (14 against 13). Jasper turns wet Sunday as forecast — showers, snow level 1,900 metres, 5 cm over sections of the Icefields Parkway — then dries Monday at 7. Merritt runs as forecast — cloudy becoming a mix of sun and cloud, high 14 — with showers arriving tonight instead, and Sunday's winds gusting to 80.
