EIA diesel benchmark stays at $6.529; AAA daily average eases to $6.4709

AAA reported a national diesel average of $6.3726 per gallon on October 2, down from $6.3895 the day before and $6.5019 one week earlier, but above $3.7049 one year earlier.
AAA lists the September 22 value of $6.5276 as its highest recorded diesel average.
Energy Information Administration reported a national on-highway diesel price of $6.382 per gallon for September 28, down 14.7 cents from $6.529 the week before but $2.628 above the comparable week one year earlier.
AAA's daily retail average and EIA's weekly on-highway benchmark use different collection schedules and methodologies, so the values should not be treated as the same series.
